Phil Scolari's only European experience was managing Portugal. Moyes has experience, he's managed in the Europa League and he took part in the CL qualifiers, something Arry hadn't done yet he still got a good job at Spurs. When Arry leaves, Moyes could easily get the Spurs job, whilst it's not too hard to believe a United or Chelsea would give him a chance, he's arguably been the best manager outside of the top 4 for quite a while now. If Chelsea carry on at their current rate, they'll probably have to look domestically for a coach.

Bet your house on Newcastle getting relegated again next May. 7/1 is brilliant value, after fat Mike has finished taking the club for a ride.

The ambition the board are showing is absolutely terrible.

Pardew is hardly the answer, but the board don't seem to want to help. All that Carroll money, looks like Barton will be leaving, and the latest rumour is that when Enrique completes his £15m move to Liverpool his replacement is someone with no PL experience from Swansea for £1m.

It is inevitable Enrique will leave, if he wanted to stay then he would've been showing more commitment than he is.

That would be (inc Carroll's money, and any other players that leave this summer) over £50m in and probably less than 10% of that will be spent.

As for the apparent Cabaye deal, watch that fall through.

Never felt this low as a NUFC fan in my life.

What?! He has 12 months left on his contract, doesn't he? There's no way it will be that much unless Damien's really lost it.

Scolari was percieved to be a successful International manager though, Moyes does not have that.

Redknapp did not take over Spurs with the expectation of CL semi's as a minimum. I agree that Moyes could get the Spurs job, but they aren't in the CL next year and anything past the group stages would be a bonus for progression in the CL if they were in it at the time of his appointment. They can afford for him to learn the ropes tactically, Utd and Chelsea cannot.

Had he won the EL, or even got to a final, then it may be different. But he's not won anything, nor exceeded expectations in Europe. He's shown he's a good manager at that level of club, he's not shown he can spend big money and he's not pushed Everton beyond what was expected bar one season in 2005. That's not enough for a major club to take a chance on him.

If he goes to Villa, gets a bit of money and pushes them into the top 4 and has a good season in the CL the year after then that might do, so I can see why he'd be tempted.

I've read in places 14-15m, but probably just speculation.

It is Mike Ashley you're dealing with, so he'd probably accept £5m + either Kyrgiakos or N'Gog, then he can add the money to his coffers and deny Pardew the opportunity to buy a decent centre back or striker.

The makings of a pretty strong squad at Anfield. I still think some of the other squads may still be stronger, even without any additions.
