Incorrect. The play is dead when the QB hits the ground not when he begins the slide. Brady was just entering the sliding motion and wasn't downed. It was a terrible call. Made worse by a phantom description.

Oh and guys, Gronkowski isn't the best TE in the league

Aww you guys

I knew as soon as Parker dropped that punt return and they ran it in for a TD that things would turn pear shaped. Jacksonville have been terrible though. Gabbert has made 2 decent plays all game. We've just turned the ball over for the 6th time though and it's killing us.

Oh, and Freeman has 2 ints and 2 fumbles. 1 fumble on the 1yard line which bounced into the end zone which the Jags happily fell on for the TD. 1 of his ints though was a deflection. Still, we are a bad team at the moment. Just no consistency at all.

Which is why the ball is always spotted where the QB begins his slide

You aren't allowed to hit a player sliding, they become a defenseless player and that is why the flag was thrown, the ref saying it was a hit to the head was wrong.

We aren't debating the spot of the ball just the penalty call. You can't as a player run right up to the defender and then go into slide as he is entering the hitting motion. When Fletcher starts the hit Brady wasn't defenceless. If it was a penalty everybody would do it. I'd go as far as to say it was probably only called due to it been Brady.

I'd take Graham and Finley ahead of Gronkowski personally. Oh and Lance Kendricks of course

Have you ever watched an NFL game?

There's a reason when a QB slides you never see a player hit them - because it's a flag, Fletcher didn't start the hit until the slide had started which is why it was a flag. The fact the spot of the ball is at the start of the slide is also confirmation that the start of the slide is the end of a play - the commentators say it on a weekly basis too (especially when the slide is close to the 1st down).

But let's not let facts get in the way of your petty hate of all things Patriots eh?

Yes of course this is all part of my anti-Patriots agenda and having LFCPatriotRhino and pretty much every other person I talk about the NFL to agree with me that the Fletcher call was BS. What I've done is pay them all off, in LFC's case with cake.

According to the NFL rulebook, a quarterback (or any ball carrier) can slide feet first to prevent a hit. When they do so, the ball will be considered dead when the player hits the ground.
