Abeid is only 18 though isn't he? Is he good enough to go into the first team or is he gonna be out on loan for a year or two?

N'Zogbia, Gervinho, Cabaye, Taylor and Gameiro would probably cost upwards of 30m, as well as still needing a few more players on top of that. A rock solid centre back is a priority. Wouldn't mind a new keeper either. Having said that, there is plenty of dead wood to clear out to raise funds.

He's been telling people on Facebook that he will be around the first team next season.

I doubt we'll sign all of those, we're more than likely looking to sign one of N'Zogbia or Gervinho. Can't see us signing a CB, possibly a young back-up but I can't imagine more than that, don't think Pardew sees it as a priority. No chance of a GK too with Forster returning from his loan. This season should be Harper's last which means if we can keep hold of them both, we've got Krul and Forster battling it out for the #1 shirt for the next 10 years.

We won't raise much from getting rid of the deadwood. We might save on wages if we can offload Smith like has been suggested today but I don't see too many more outgoings.

Would be a shame, as we could do with a good, composed defender - something our better centre halves lose at vital times.

I'd like one to partner Colo but they'd have to be a big upgrade on Taylor/Williamson to make it worthwhile. That's likely to cost a lot. If we miss out on our first choice targets (these appear to be the players' I've mentioned in previous posts), there may be something left in the pot to bring someone in. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Kuyt 8 assists 13 goals = 21 (33 games)
Nani 18 assists 9 goals = 27 (33 games)

Tevez very effective. van persie head and shoulders above anybody else for productivity. Drogba's surprised me to be honest. Giggs still the better than Bale.

Thing is, I heard somebody saying it was 'the best player of 2011' not necessarily the best player this season, which made it even worse.

Just shows you how embarrassing individual awards generally are in football. Even the Balon D'or/WPOTY award has regular cringe moments. I remember Kaka being in the top 10 once when he'd spent most of the year injured.

Am I right in saying Young has 12 months left on his deal? If so, that's an embarrassingly large amount. I'd say he may be worth that under a five year deal, but with 12 months left. Oh dear. Look at the fee Madrid paid for Ozil and compare it to how much to pay for a superstar whose contract's running down.
