Just comparing World Championship averages, the top BDO average in their Championship this year (92.40) would make 19th on the PDC list.

Stephen Bunting over his 3 matches was 91.78 and that would be 22nd.

But yet there have been some utterly fantastic matches at the Lakeside mate, regardless of averages.

The difference between both is that the PDC commentators don't shut up about 3 dart averages, the graphic is on there for 5 minutes, Waddell goes on about the world record, it gets shoved down your throat every 10-15 minutes.

The BDO comms focus on the darts in hand, the graphic is on there for about 20 seconds, mentioned a couple of times and then back to the darts.

The averages discussion tends to only be used by PDC-ites in order to bag the BDO. The PDC-ites don't look deeper in to the BDO, they don't see the great matches that have been played. All they want to see is the 3 dart averages and then use that info to take the pish out of the BDO. Yeah, the BDO doesn't have the best averages in the world, but me personally I couldn't care less. I enjoy watching both organisations. I don't watch a match just to see what averages someone is having, I watch the match because I'm interested in darts.

Today's semi finals and a couple of the quarters have been really good matches, some very close indeed.

Couldn't comment on the 2nd semi did not see it, the first I found quite entertaining when it got going. I think the PDC to some extent does ram the averages down your neck, especially after one leg . The whole presentation of the darts on bbc I find really irritating, might be because Im used to the PDC the loud (sometimes ignorant) PDC crowd and a carnival atmosphere but thats no disrespect to the BDO. I really like that Bunting lad, Think in a few years He'l be challenging the rest of the BDO. From a financial point of view, If I had talent at darts (I Can count thats about it  ) I'd probably get the experience on the BDO circuit and then go make a decent living on sky. RE: The debate about Taylors effect on darts. its obvious he has raised its profile along with sky and vice versa, they play off each other all in the games interest imo. Really looking forward to the Premier league too, no 'gimmes' like in recent years. Essay over

I've heard ITV have pulled the GSOD from this year's schedule. Bit of a bummer for Hearn if true as he was trying to show more darts on terrestrial tv .

Don't know how Wolfie pulled that out the bag last night. Good final though

The Players Championship Finals was on there last year and as far as I know its not being televised this year plus Bravo dissapearing means the European Championship probably will not be shown over here either.

I think experience and dogged determination won the day and fair play to him for that but Deano must be regretting he could not take control whilst Wolfie was on the rack and it will be interesting to see how he responds to that defeat.

On BBC they kept going on bout him not going for the bull for the 164 I think it was when he hit ten to leave double top but, for me, it was on his return and he missed the double with three darts. He didn't win a leg after that and it prob would've won him the title.

I couldn't understand why they were banging on about that either. Surely, when your opponent has no out shot, you're better to have 3 darts at a double, rather than risk hitting 25 or lower and only having 2.
