Compare Downing's ball from the corner to Whittingham's. Surprised that boy isn't playing Premier League football this season, looks a superb player.

Got to be Liverpool on penalties. Reina is good on penalties and they are so lucky.

Fair play to Liverpool, won the battle of the bottle. Cardiff need shooting, some truly awful penalties there. Dirk Kuyt's was the key one.

Theres something very amusing about they way this turned out.

Liverpool stuttured and laboured their way to a scrappy win, on penalties no less, over championship outfit cardiff and are celebrating like they've won the premier league, champions league and FA cup all in one.

I guess it shows how they have fallen. Any trophy, just anything. Like the guy who's desperate to pull and will go home with the fat whale.

Maybe if you could win the premier league on penalties liverpool might have a chance of being champions sometime in the next decade.

Last three trophies all won on pens. The CL final against AC Milan, fair enough, to come back from 3-0 down to even take it to pens was amazing. But needing pens to beat the might of West Ham and Cardiff City is just embarrassing.

To be fair - they didn't need penalties to win the UEFA Cup in 2001;

they got by with an own goal in golden goal extra time against a Spanish Second Division side who were down to nine men.

Not strictly true, Alaves were in the top division at the time.

Saw a nice couple of pics of three scousers beating up a 50 odd year old Cardiff supporter. But I'm sure the second and third blokes can always claim self defence.
