According to the Arsenal Chairman, when I heard him interviewed, he claimed that Arsenal do not plan with CL Qualification in mind, and that added revenue from the CL is exactly that, as oppose to a requirement like it was at say, Leeds United. How true this is, i'm not sure, but that's what he claimed.

I don't know very little about Arsenal's finances apart from the fact that they have a large debt that is being serviced. I thought that they made a small profit last season. If you are only making a small profit when qualifying for the CL, and making it to the second stage of that competition, I would imagine that non-qualification would lead to a large loss.

Maybe someone with a combination of financial expertise and knowledge of Arsenal (lucky to find more than a handful of people who are knowledgeable about football on this forum).

There's no user called "Some Bloke"

Red Issue got any scoops on our finances (taken from the Daily Mirror) recently? Or has the interest in our finances diminished somewhat?

:)

Well you've shown interest, which makes it on a par with anything you've posted, as I think this post by me is the only interest shown in any of the garbage you've posted and the only reason I've posted is because I can't be arsed with the ongoing debate about who's good and bad for England, jointly being scrapped out by Enfield Exile and the resident Man Yoo fans (sic).

Chelsea were totally correct to sell SWP. The only thing Chelsea did wrong was not getting rid of Malouda at the same time. SWP and Malouda are two cases where you can have addition by subtraction.

I can't agree with you, they left themselves with one genuine option on the right in Joe Cole. Had Cole been fit, you could have had a case for Cole playing from the left, and SWP from the right. Malouda could & should have been sacrificed, the only thing against this I suppose is '2nd season syndrome' and there was a chance he may have done better this year, like Pires took a year to settle for instance, that didn't happen.

I'm not saying that SWP produced anywhere near his best for Chelsea, nor am I saying he's a 'great' player, but he's much better than Kalou or Malouda.

Having said all this, it's very difficult to access how good SWP really is of course, that is, until he goes to La Liga and then we can all make assesments once he has truely been tested.

SWP is the width and speed Chelsea are missing out wide.
