It would be a bit like when Scorcese won the Oscar for IMHO one of his weaker films. More of a probably deserved award for lifetime achievement rather than current performance.

No. He has had a good season relative to the past couple of seasons, but he isn't the best out there at the moment.

Disappointed for Ledley King and for England.

I would go as far to say that hes the best central defender in the Premiership when at full tilt, he is that good. I don't think he'll ever be fit enough to play for England again but as a Spurs fan, as long as he can continually play for Tottenham then I'm happy.

Looking good Spurs are now, the addition of Palacios has made a huge difference, genuine top 5 contenders next season I think, especially with the addition of Downing or somebody down the left flank to free Modric to play behind a front one or two.

He's been back to his best in the games he's played, and has been vital for us picking up three points instead of one. When he was getting a decent run in the side, he was one of our better players.

Still, I don't think he's done enough to win PotY, but I wouldn't be surprised if the PFA gave him the award TBH.
