IMO Pretty much when the Sjit hit the fan and he brought in "the Messiah" Shearer to deflect attention away from him and how badly he has run the club into the ground

And if he'd done that you'd just say that he'd undermined the new manager by focusing on the negative when he was just starting.

If you were Alan Shearer, would you have wanted Ashley to be giving the "this is what relegation will cost to you and this club" speech at the beginning of your tenure? I sure as hell wouldn't. I'd expect to be given the time to sort the situation out by myself. Shearer has had that time, it hasn't worked, so now Ashley is letting the players know just how crucial it is that they keep the club up.

Ashley has clearly screwed up a lot. But that doesn't mean he should get blamed for anything and everything.

Same reason as last week when Mascherano's comedy dive led to the first liverpool goal - it doesn't fit into people's ridiculous theory about "the authorities" favouring manchester united.
