“You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”

Ashley Cole - JT can have Cheryl!!!!

Ashley Cole last night came out with the sensational statement that if JT leads Chelsea to a League and CL double he will willingly let his captain have his wife.

If he gets regular football and adapts to the league, then it'll be a nice move by him, just like Valencia moving to Wigan. They may not be a great club but they could be an excellent stepping stone for him, he'll definitely get more playing time there than he will at any of the big clubs, it's not up to him to prove himself and get a move to a big club in a couple of years.

But Valencia didn't have a number of Premiership clubs eyeing him up. If I were Moses (his agent), I'd have insisted on a two year deal, played my socks showing the rest of the Prem what I was capable of... then walked on a free.

How long was the deal signed?

Let's be honest, how many clubs are going to sign a player as young as him on a two year deal? My point was, Valencia knew he was too good for Wigan so he used them to prove himself and show himself capable in the league. Moses has only proved himself at championship level, if he can play well for Wigan then he'll adapt to the league quicker and still get a move to a big club. IMO, it's a smart move. You see it a lot with South American footballers, too many make the giant step up straight to the top, steady progression whilst still getting regular minutes is the most important thing at his age IMO, trophies will come with time.

Terrible crowd mate. The South Stand was empty.

Anyone see Everton's disallowed goal vs. Wigan?

I was that bored that I didn't see it proper at the game but did look strange on MOTD. Thought the corner they scored from should have been a GK but that was proved wrong.

Had the better chances I thought but as usual we couldn't score in a brothel.

Hmm, yes. You can really boil it down further though. Football authorities are notoriously strict on political interference in football matters, hence Brazil and Chile's issues regarding the World Cup. However, if force majeur means anything, then it must apply here. If not, it's a waste of ink in the regulations.

Quite right, a few players have used Wigan as a springboard to bigger teams. Valencia and Palacios did it, and I'd be surprised if Moses didn't do the same. From our point of view a great signing.
