Are most Man Utd fans equally embarrased about the jibes towards City about spending money and buying trophies when they spent £19M on Quiff, £20M on Young and £17M for Jones this summer?

Loving the old "Trafford isn't in Manchester" argument put forward by City fans.

As far as I'm aware, the City chant alludes to City being "the only football team TO COME from Manchester" and not "the only football team currently based in the environs of Manchester City Council".

I believe Newton Heath is in Manchester though.

So it's ok for you to spend millions on players but not for city to do the same. Right gotcha.

We're Man United, we'll do what we want.


We bring our own through as well though. We have always had a fine blend of home grown youngsters and world class players. City have a team of very good players they have overpaid for and Micah Richards.

Old Trafford is not in the City of Manchester and never has been.

That is all I am going to say about it as I want to talk about football rather than list facts on subjects such as geography.

If Jordan henderson and Andy Carroll cost c£20m and c£35m respectively, then I would say that pretty much all of our signings (certainly not RSC) are very good value.

People made those judgements about Beckham etc., before they had even played a full season as a regular. Ashley Cole and Cleverley have hardly set the world alight before this season. Admittedly Cleverley is young but he couldn't get into Wigan's central midfield on a regular basis. He's young but apart from being enthusiatic I don't think he has much in his locker.

I think you will spank Arsenal this weekend but I do feel you may have problems against the more defensive minded teams this season.

I always thought the joke about United was that their ground is like a tourist attraction for non-Mancs on a matchday??....

I've been as guilty as anybody for pushing this particular jibe, but its always quite amusing when Sky Sports News deliberately build on this line of p!$s-taking....Just today, when interviewing 'locals' outside the ground about Danny Welbeck, they managed to find 2 Irishmen and a Scot to wax lyrical about their latest hero...
