I thought exactly the same thing about Shay Given's reaction. He definitaly thought it was going wide.

Redknapp can cry that refs have cost him against us and Man United, but the simple fact is that after these incidents Tottenham shipped in 6 goals (and Chelsea had an even more blatant penalty not given as well).

Poor ref decisions happen. That doesn't give you an excuse to fall apart.

Real Madrid obviously think that they can increase revenue because of their spending. They think they can bring in enough success to cover the massive outlay. If they are wrong and go bankrupt that is their problem. It shouldn't be up to UEFA to dictate to them that they cannot risk their own bankrupty.

An article in Marca pre season claimed that Madrid need to win at least the league or Champions League in each of the next five seasons to recoup the money.
They had factored in increased merchandise and ticket sales.
