Do you know what the story is with Granada? Went to see them in January 09 and they were fighting off relegation from 2B, the players were protesting about not being paid and there were about 500 people in the ground.
Now back to back promotions and they're in La Primera.
Maybe you brought them some luck as they finished around mid-table that season.
I know when Cuidad de Murcia relocated to Granada there were some very unhappy Granainos. I used to work in a nursery in Murcia and one of the Ciudad players had a kid there. He told me that the president had called the players to a meeting one day after training and told them the news. The main reason was the preferential treatment that Real Murcia got when it came to funds, decisions and support from local government. I remember the player telling me that upping sticks and moving to Granada was suicide but the majority of the players were going to do it as it was their only source of income. That proved to be quite ironic as not so long after the club dropped out of the league owing over €1,000,000 to players.
Granada signed an agreement with Udinese a couple of years ago and they've still got loads of players on loan from the Italians. One thing that was mentioned on televsion last night was just that, the number of players they've got on loan. I think one of the pundits said it was something like half the squad! The club said last week that should they go up there would be money available but they wouldn't spend beyond their means (I read that as '
we're brassick').
Last I heard about Granada 74 (Ciudad de Murcia) is that they were playing in the Andalusian league being managed by the club president.
