The same was said about Tebow this year, that he'd get shut down in the NFL because he wouldn't find the space he did in the NCAA. I think Tebow will play differently next year, over time his passing will improve and this season he's got some credibility that he can achieve things in the pro game and so he's got his teammates and coaches on his side actively trying to help him get better results in the passing game. It would have been difficult if he'd been crap in his rookie season and the doubts would remain that he could never make the step up.

One thing that's good for Tebow as a Bronco is he's managed to escape the shadow of Elway which has fallen over the others because nobody will compare his stats to Elway, everyone knows he's not going to be the same type of player so he doesn't have to be compared. Also Elway himself is now at the top of the football operations and so is widely asked about Tebow and he's handled the situation well, he hasn't been bought in by the Tebow hype or put undue expectations on him but has been realistic and supportive.

The hard thing for Tebow about being a Bronco is that the club would find it hard to accept if things bombed for a season or two, they haven't been a franchise that has gone through big periods of 'rebuilding' in the doldrums, they've usually been a competitive team and the pressure is always that even in transition stages they should be around the playoffs.

In Tebow's favour though he has a lot more of the other QB attributes, presence, leadership, charisma etc, I reckon he will be an overachiever who made an impact on the NFL despite limited talent.

Hue Jackson fired apparently, its been coming if you believe the press.

I thought the crazy old man that made all the weird decisions was dead!

Still at least they beat more teams with winning records than us....

At least he'll be remembered for trading a kings ransom for a retired QB (who was average during his prime) while bidding against nobody else.

Very sad about Philbin's son, hopefully there is some tribute/gesture at this weekends game.

From a football perspective I'm not sure how he'd be as a HC. He's a very good OC, but McCarthy is our offensive play-caller. He deserves a chance though.

Depending on our other re-signings (Finley) we may franchise Matty Flynn and trade him. Would think we could get a late first/early second for him given what other QB's have gone for. He's better than the starters on a number of teams so there should be interest.

It should also be noted that Elway's stats were never that great. Sure he passed for tonnes of yards over his career (yet only topped 4,000 yds once) but his completion rates, TD/Int comparison and passer rating (his highest ever was just 92.8 and his career rating is less than both Ken O'Brien and Jeff George) were nothing like a Montana, Marino or Young. All that yet nobody disputes Elway's position amongst the elite in the sport because what he knew how to do was win. His ability to compete was probably second only to Montana and I'm sure Denver fans would take a reincarnation of that spirit over Manning and Favre's stats any day.

We're being moved division for next season, which on the one hand is good because we're away from Birmingham + Loughborough (2 of the top 5 teams in the nation) but bad because we get Hallam instead. (Double Wing is not a real offence.)
