I wouldn't want us to pay over £8mp and beat Sunderland to his signature anyway. £8mp plus £3mp add-ons for a player who's never played a game in the top flight. Football's gone mad.

But has it? Wickham looks a terrific player. He's got the goods, physicque, athleticism, pace, finishing etc. Had he come through at a Premier League club, he'd be going for upwards of £20m now.

Yes it has. £8mp for Wickham, £20mp for Henderson, 16m and 8m for Young and Adam (supposedly) repestivley in which both had a year left on their contracts.

Wickham looks a decent player, who can score goals, but this is at Championship level. From the Championship to the Premier League is an almighty step us. There is no doubting he is a good player and probably one of the best forwards in his division but I just feel £11mp us a huge risk on a young centre-forward who's never played in the PL. Good luck to him n'all that but I'm glad we didn't take that risk.

Why is no one including Phil Jones in the discussion for inflated prices? £16mil for both him and Henderson, similar ages, both English, both pretty experiences in the prem. 1 has an England cap and the other doesn't.

Aye, forgot about him. Again, another one of our overpriced countrymen. I didn't watch all of it, mainly the odd game here and there (mostly Spain) but I was told that Wickham couldn't even get a game for the U21's.

All these inflated prices have to make you wonder what Everton could rake in for Jack Rodwell??

Considering that Rodwell's reputation is probably the highest of all the so-called 'promising' youngsters in this country, and he does have 3 seasons of Premier League experience, you have to say that Everton could easily push his price upto close to £30 million.

Personally, I think its all got out of hand, but Everton would be crazy to reject a OTT bid for their midfielder.
