Brees wasn't a bust in San Diego. He didn't start well but he went on to become a good QB for them. However they had already invested in Rivers before Brees final season. He made the pro bowl (before the mickey take fan votes) as a Charger and his final 2 seasons were a combined 51TDs to 22INTs. Not disastrous. Wasn't he also the most in demand FA QB for a good few years upon his release?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly pleased with this appointment. But it might not, hopefully, be as bad as it looks.

In fact Brees was apparently that much of a bust the Chargers franchised him in 2005

Not really indicative of anything. There is a possibility we franchise Flynn for example this year.

Pretty sure they franchised him because he wanted more money and they weren't willing to pay him. I don't remember Brees being a bust at San Diego at all though. I thought they got rid of him because they weren't sure whether to risk keeping him when he injured his shoulder??

Correct. Dodgy shoulder plus the investment in Rivers meant he was released.

Can any of the Patriots fans on here tell me anything about Licht? The guy is being interviewed for the Bears GM job, just wondering if some of you can tell me how much he has had to do with the Pats success? Thanks in advance.
