Close. It was our (extremely) near neighbour Dun(g)dee who ended the Jambo dreams that fateful day. A chap named Albert Kidd scored two goals late on to hand the title to Celtic who benefitted from St Mirren lieing down to them on the final day so that they could get the five goals they needed to pip Hearts on goal difference.
I am not completely sure (but I suspect Leyther Matt could tell us) but I think that there is still an "Albert Kidd Hibernian Supporters Club" or something similiar out there!
Well, St. Mirren lying down (if they did) would not have had any bearing on the issue if Hearts had got their point so let's not blame them.
Big Celtic fan, Albert Kidd. Jobsworth player who would never have been heard of since, that was subsequently elevated to legendary status.
That season must still bring a tear to the eye of every Jambo. Their demise in the Cup Final the following week was never in doubt after that day.
