The way Sandro Rossell is running the club is very encouraging if you're a Barça fan. Roma would have done them royally under Laporta.

Gladbach confirm the signing of United's Joshua King on a one-year loan deal. Medical in next few days. He´ll join the team on August 1st.

What happens if he flops and neither Roma want him or Barca want him? Where does he end up then?

40 million Euros for Bojan is a complete joke, great business from Barca. Agent Luis Enrique is getting to work well.

It's not as ridiculous for Roma as it originally sounds, basically Barca have to buy him back for €13m after the 2 years whether they want him or not, but if he's blossomed into something special Roma can stop that from happening by paying the extra €28m.

In reality if he isn't super special and Roma want to keep him they'll probably get him for a more realistic price if Barcelona don't want or need him back.

Asim, do you remember out Grant Holt/Peter Throne League 2 bet a few years back? Can't quite believe Holt is a premiership striker now!

Is that how it works then? My understanding of first option is that they get first refusal rather than HAVE to buy him.

That's what I thought at first but after reading a report in the Spanish press it seems it is the way I describe it.

edit - Sid Lowe seems to see it the way I do from what he's posted on twitter.

Yep! One hell of a rapid rise, fair play to him though he's scored plenty in each division he's played in.

Thorne's back packed in for good and he retired, apparently he's travelling the world and surfing a lot, it's a hard life.
