I wouldn't say it was 'easy' personally, it was a catch he makes most of the time sure but it certainly wasn't easy given the pressure situation and the fact he was off balance because it was thrown behind him, ATEOTD if it wasn't for Welker chances are we wouldn't even be in the SB, he has been a beast all year.

We need to offer him a new contract before he enters free agency, there will be a hell of a lot of teams wanting to sign him. I reckon we will franchise him and try to sort a deal out after next season if not before.

As for Gisele she should stick to something she knows about like walking up and down and looking pretty

Can't imagine a 31-year old wide receiver being given the franchise tag - doesn't seem to be the sort of thing the Patriots would usually do...?

Weatherford should have been MVP, if it wasn't for his punts the Patriots wouldn't have had bad field position all game long, Eli should be thanking him big time after that game.

Laughable response. You need to get yourself some of these to try and help you get over it...

You can't really assess legacy until a player has called it a day. Only then can you really assess a career and where it ranks amongst the greats. Brady may have harmed his legacy a touch with the loss but he remains a three MVP guy who also has performed pretty consistently throughout his career.

A good example of assessing during career is with Favre, who for several years was heralded as one of the very best (which he was) and earned comparisons with those. After his career though a more honest reflection is happening and starting to place him amongst that group of QBs who are amongst the very best even if they don't stand on the podium of the American football equivalent of a Wally Lewis or Darren Lockyer. He's up there though.

You can't really throw an assessment out there to say this or that because Brady's career hasn't ended yet. He may win another couple of Super Bowls and then what? Same with Peyton Manning, who may well be one of the best of all-time (I'd put him in my top five for sure) but without another ring it's going to niggle at people when assessing him. If either of those two won next year their HoF stock would rise significantly but what happens if neither wins the big one again? Does Brady become the QB whose legacy is he played in a successful team that bent the rules to win? Does Manning become just a statistically better version of Favre? And what about Eli Manning? He doesn't have half the career of either of those yet he has two MVP awards on the back of two incredible play off runs so where does he go? You can't say until you've seen their entire volume of work. Simples.

...In your opinion

As far as I'm concerned, Peyton Manning is the best QB that I've seen play the game while watching NFL. I don't care if he has less rings than Brady, or even Eli.

Elisha is a difficult QB to rank. He isn't better as an individual player than Brees/Rodgers/Brady but he leads a very good team and is a good QB. That said his team get hot at the right time and he has 2 rings.

Brady struggles under physical pressure- something which coincidentally happens when you don't have the defensive signals. The question marks over the Patriots previous wins remain until (if) they can win another

 Superb. Amazing how 2 of those reasons you have given are the same in 2 of the games. That just a coincidence or did the Giants D maybe play well?

You don't win a Superbowl purely on luck fella. Take a look at the stuff LFC has posted then compare it to your usual cringeworthy tosh. Better team on the day won but NE did pretty well. Giants could easily have been out of sight at half time.

The Giants were the better team, but that doesn't say much considering outside of 2 drives the Patriots were terrible...sometimes it's better to be lucky than good though.

And the drops aren't down to the Giants D when the receivers are wide open when they drop it, are they?

I still stand by Weatherford was MVP too, he was the one who pinned the Patriots back and put them under pressure.

Totally agree, I think Favre is a very apt analogy for Peyton Manning in that both of them have had the "potentially the best of all time" tag given them whilst still playing. With Favre's case it especially hurt him that he won his one SB early in his career and then was always the nearly man whilst racking up tremendously consistent stats, which is the same as Peyton just he won his SB in the middle of his career. IMO the way a player finishes his career influences the way people remember him, which is why Elway benefits from more positive nostalgia than Favre.

In rugby league there's a similar effect with Iestyn Harris and Lee Briers. For a long time people would have thought Briers didn't come close to Harris's class but I reckon now a majority of RL fans would rate Briers as the better player overall.

I wonder how Jim Kelly would have been regarded had the Bills won some of their 4 consecutive Superbowls in the 1990s, considering they were crap before Kelly arrived and went to crap again after he retired I would have thought Kelly has to go down as one of the very best but he is never thought of in the class of Montana, Marino etc. Maybe if Kelly had played for the Bears or Redskins he would be regarded as one in the top class.

On Eli, I respect his achievements and his ability under pressure is excellent but in the pecking order of QBs from my era watching NRL I wouldn't have him near the top. I'd have guys like Michael Vick and Kurt Warner a fair bit above Eli.
