Who is this bloke on SSN trying to kid saying the Newcastle board have "a heavy heart" and were "reluctant" to see Carroll leave?

They must be laughing their heads off after getting that much money for him!!

Exactly my thoughts! He might turn into a beast at Liverpool but he is not worth £35mil, I'd say he's barely worth half of that.

I actually feel sorry for them, having your best player snatched away from you is pretty hard to take, especially when you have an owner who's probably gonna pocket at least half of the fee for himself.

David Villa went to Barca for £34 million. I know who got the best deal. Villa also does not knock his wife around

My personal opinion is that he has the potential to be a great player, but £35million is the kind of money you pay for a player that's already proved it over a period of time not someone who might.

A good deal for both parties imo.

35 million for a striker will help Newcastle immensely in the future, possiblyin the summer when they can spend it.

As for Liverpool, Torres was going, they need a replacement and went out and got one instantly. Hard to say how he will fit in terms of a target man but you cant knock the guy for his goalscoring this season, forcing his way into the England squad too.

In all reality Liverpool sold Torres for 15 million plus Carroll which isnt that bad a deal to be honest.

Valid point, but look at it when Keane went back to Spurs in the transfer window, Liverpool didnt replace him and paid the penalty for it. This time Torres is the one thats leaving, they have found a replacement and have been prepared to pay whatever it costs to get him.

Had Liverpool sold Torres and not bought a replacement, then the fans would be going mental.

Not sure to be honest. £35m+ is an absolutely crazy amount for someone with 4/5 months of PL experience. Would have preferred him to stay but for that kind of money, it's hard to be too disappointed. I mentioned last night we're quietly building a tidy squad; as long as we use the incoming money wisely and bolster the squad with it then it's hard to say it wasn't a good deal.

I do however find it strange watching the Liverpool fans celebrating on SSN when your best player is on his way out too.
