A lot of teams beat us, do a lap of honour and don't stop running. They live too long on one good result. I remember Jimmy Adamson crowing after Burnley had beaten us once and that his players were in a different league. At the end of the season they were.

But in terms of £££'s spent, according to that report, Rafa's talking out of his bottom, no? He doesn't mention spend per player.
I think what your referring to shows the amount of time United have been building the squad and benefitting from that special bunch of youth players. They haven't had to make wholesale changes. The budget goes on a couple of exceptional players. Due to Liverpools past cock ups, lots of players have been brought in at the same price or more expensive, than Uniteds one or two.
Fook me, I think a manc has finally cottoned on to what has happened over the last 4 years. One down, just a dozen to go.

Just had a quick search for the rafa article that Penguin, Flipper and the British media are wanking themselves over. It was an interview with Tomás Guasch on 15/02/2009.
Now then, our responsibloe and truthful media have "translated said artcle and this is what they said.
"In my five years, I've paid less in transfer fees than I've received, even though I spent £40m on Fernando Torres and Robbie Keane. It's as simple as that."
the highlighted bit is what all the story is based on.
"Yo, en los cinco años que llevo, gasté menos de 40 en Torres y Keane. ¡Como para andar discutiendo entre nosotros!"
That translates to using Google translate as
"I, in the five years that I take, I spent less than 40 in Torres and Keane. Like walking discussing between us!"
other translations on the same quote are
"I, in five years that I take, spent less than 40 in Torrew and Keane. Like for gait discussing between us!"
"I, in the five years that I take, I spent less than 40 in Torres and Keane. Like walking discussing between us!"
But, then we come to Babelfish, which gives us
"I, in the five years that I less than take, I spent 40 in Torres and Keane. Like walking discussing between us!"
Of course, the wonderful and insightful British media will use the last translation, because they can change "I, in the five years that I less than take" and turn it into "In my five years, I've paid less in transfer fees than I've received"
The fact that he never said or meant what he has reported to have said, has nothing to do with it, and the usual "linky" muppets lap it up.
Pity they don't teach common sense at Uni.
Remember kids, not everything you read in the papers is true. FACT.
Well, well, well, what do you know.

Either that, or don't ignore the people who receive the cheques, wouldn't suit their agenda though would it.
Of course, your right on the pulse and are well aware that very LFC players price is increased and all other players decreased. I wish these media people would run things past an armchair fan from newton le willows before publishing.

He even knows more than Daniel Levy about transfer fees
