I don't think it's the in front of the fans thing that's the problem, more to do with the 90 metre sprint to do so. Rooney has done the ear thing on front of the kop and the LFC fans behaved very well. What Adebayor did wasn't terrible but the FA have to do address it in some way, a fine would suffice.
A fine would be fine, but there's talk of a ban and people fully blaming it all on Adebayor.
IMO, I think it's pathetic how seriously goal celebrations are looked at. I believe players should be allowed to take off their shirts and run off the pitch IF they're the home side. I believe it adds to show and it allows them to show true passion, something I feel all fans love to see. I don't see how it would be provoking if they're the home side and I don't feel it warrants a yellow card.
What gets me is, the FA apparently won't take action against things the referee has already decided upon, so if somebody's been yellow carded, only in extreme circumstances will they take action. Do people believe Adebayor's celebration was an extreme circumstance? I don't. Especially when you see some of the things on the pitch that are just waved off an accepted, like Guthrie's intentional kick that broke Fagan's leg, or Bosingwa's kick on Benayoun.
Consistency is all I want, if they're now gonna act on things that have been carded and they're gonna give punishments for bad tackles/challenges like Adebayor's, then I want it every week, not once a season.
