......Would it be beneficial for other members if when you put a tip up, you write a quick line or two explaining your reasoning behind your selection.

Not really IMO because:

1) If it is nailed on and you say so people will copy you.
2) If its nailed on and you dont say its almost stopping people from doing the same bet.
3) People can pick by name of horse or just put their £10 on their team week in week out.

I'd just think it would lead to responses why your thinking was incorrect (in the posters opinion)

I think just by seeing who is in profit will show whose opinion to respect and whose to ignore and the other betting thread is there to discuss and argue about selections
