City employ Tevez and pay his wages. They're entitled to demand him back, especially if he's gone AWOL.

The BBC portray the club in a more understanding light. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 527916.stm I've got plenty of sympathy for Tevez but can understand Mancini's position. Clearly the player must put his family first and needs to be with his wife and child whilst her life is in danger. The question really is what happens once her life is out of danger. It seems to me to be very unlikely that the child will be able to travel to the UK any time soon. And you can understand that, after what they've been through, Carlos will be very reluctant to leave his family in Argentina and return without them. I can understand Mancini's frustration at not knowing when the player will return, particularly as it seems that the club have been told that she is out of danger. And it may be that Mancini's english isnt good enough to appreciate how harsh the term "order" sounds. But ultimately there's little point in Tevez returning if his mind is going to be elsewhere and no point destroying the relationship between Tevez and City/Mancini.

WTF is with South American players and mickey.ing off home whenever they want? I know Tevez' wife has had pregnancy problems, but Robinho, Ronaldo, Adriano and I think Ronaldinho have all just gone AWOL before. Probably some more I don't know about too.

Why is it that players and shout at the referee for a decision against them, but a manager can't express his views after the match? I ask because the Sunderland manager has been punished after his game against City when he criticised the ref after the match.

i recently stumbled across this article from days gone by biggest wastes of money in football history Bearing in mind this was written in 2001, i'm sure we can come up with more recent examples, and some better ones from days gone by. seth johnson and thomas brolin of leeds would get my vote, perhaps of the two it would be johnson, who neatly sums up the spending madness that went on in the ridsdale era. not sure how much bosnich cost man utd but he would be up there too

Johnson is one of the worst signings we ever made. Even when he signed I remember people saying 'Why the f-ck have we signed him?' and my next door neighbour didn't even know who he was.
