I honestly don't think he's all that. Not seen him enough to write him off and there must obviously be something there for Liverpool to make this astronomical offer. Like I said before this will either be a brilliant deal a few years down the line or a truly horrific deal. Remains to be seen how it plays out but I will confidently say that Andy Carroll is not worth more than David Villa.

Duncan Ferguson was a hero mainly because he was as hard as nails, and he did several things which just enhanced this reputation, like battering burglers.....

If David Villa was as good as he was and was aged 20, he'd be worth £90m. If Andy Carroll was called Andres Carrollino, he'd be rated a lot higher than many on here, likewise, if Carroll was called Anders Carsen, he'd probably be worth less than a third of what we paid for him.

Just remember, Villa's value will only ever go down with his age, he is the best striker in the world, but his age put his price right down compared to his ability.

Probably. I don't care how old Carroll is you have to have shown you have what it takes in the top division for more than a few months to be worth that kind of money IMO. It's an absolutely incredible contract. Rooney, the supposed best player of the current English generation, was sold for £10mil less than Carroll and was younger with more top flight experience. Incredible stuff.

Plus Rooney came off the back of a big Euro2004 which drove the price up.

Money aside Suarez and Carroll up top does look good on paper.

Carroll and Torres would of been better though.

The cleaners, why? It was abit overpriced but we've not been taken to the cleaners. Young, English, goal scoring cente-forwards don't come cheap. Carrol will do very well for Liverpool and will be possibly a future England captain. To say "they've taken us to the cleaners" is ridiculous.
