I'd love to see how they actually calculate the stats with strength of schedule factored in.
I know, imagine getting to play the Lions twice a year and the shoddy bears and playing the NFC west or only having 3 wins against team with a winning record(one was against the cardinals stiffs). At least their division is competitive, unlike the NFC north.
Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.
Personally i wouldn't have given it to either of those. Cushing is just the typical give it to the linebacker with the most tackles like it is every year. DROY should have been Jarius Byrd IMO.
Hervin has been good but alot of his work has come on special teams, i'd have given OROY to Michael Oher. He has been phenomenal.
I think both awards were fully merited.
Harvin was much more than a return man. He had 60 receptions, 42 of which went for 1st downs, and 6 receiving TDs. He was also effective running the ball, 15 times for an average of 8 yds. Not dissing Oher, but reports are he was great at run blocking but struggled with pass blocking. Mind you, his book (and film) are brilliant.
Cushing put up all pro numbers, and not just in tackles (133 combined). He also had 4 sacks, a safety, 4 ints and 2 FFs. The kid was a beast. I'd love to argue the case for Orakpo, who was alo a monster, but Cushing was an obvious choice.

I don't have any stats for Oher, but from the times i saw him he looked excellent and i don't think he has been significantly beaten by anybody. No matter how well he did it would never be an O-line man. I think Austin Collie should have taken Hervin close (his stats are almost identical to Hervin).

Cushing is a good player and has a good year (but it's alot to do with being the MLB with the most tackles like it goes to every year without fail). However i think Byrd who is the joint leader in INT's in the league with 9 in only 11 games started is much more impressive. He's been a difference maker.
You can make the case for both awards to be correct, and they probably are, but just saying i'd have given them to other people who i think have performed better.
Hopefully we find out the DPOY, OPOY and MVP soon.

Charles Woodson is a certainty if there is any justice in the world. The Colts have been scored against 47-0 when Manning has left the game. He is a certainty for MVP. Chris Johnson is very likely, i'd have said Brees but they have collapsed. Rivers is also a good shout for OPOY.
I would go with the DROY and OROY they were both outstanding, Jarius Byrd deserves a mention for the amount of interceptions he had but I dont think they could have looked passed Cushing like G1 said he had everything this year

Loads of worthy candidates for OPY. Steven Jackson has done wonderful things in a truly awful team where defences know he's the ONLY weapon. Chris Johnson has been a wow. Some class Qb performances from Rivers, Manning, Brees and Favre.
I wouldn't give it to Manning. He's deserving but it would be Karmic if he didn't get it this year, having got it last year when he wasn't deserving.
Defensive should be Woodson, I'd agree.
There's an argument that Favre, at his age, and the difference he has made to the Vikes, is a good shout for MVP but I'd rather it not be a Qb for once so would go with Johsnon.

It will be Manning though.
Eli's had his best year with us 4k + and 27 TDs but hardly think hes deserving of the honour.
Id go with Favre also and Johnson for OPOY, DPOY i'd go with Woodson and for coach of the year I'd go for Caldwell.
