If they wanted Benitez your lot would be silly not to indulge them. Would get a nice compensation package for a guy who, if you don't finish 4th, would surely be getting sacked. From my understanding Benitez would be very expensive to sack so it would be very good business on your behalf.
We find ourselves in a tricky position. We need to start planning for next season soon, this year is effectively over in terms of pretty much everything bar the wafer cup. Problem is, if we let Benitez go any time soon, it's hard to see who'd replace him right now, or even in the summer. The only obvious one was Hiddink, but he's gone. I'd like a younger manager with a fresh approach if Benitez ends up going, Laurent Blanc is certainly one of the top young managers in the world right now, but he's a form United player which isn't appealing. I'm a fan of Unai Emery, but I still feel he has a bit more to prove before he makes another step up. Juventus will also be looking for a new manager in the summer, whilst I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of the Milan sides were looking for new managers. If Benitez does leave, which I'm still mixed upon, then we'll struggle to find a manager of similar quality to replace him.
