Right... but football/soccer is played at a different time of the year to footy (Rugby league) in this country... so nothing really wrong with that?
If I was a soccer fan (which I'm not particularly although I have been to see a couple of games since I have been in England) just because RU or RL tried to get me to switch over unless I liked the game anyway I wouldnt be interested.
Football is only 'off' in England in June and July- FA Cup Final ends the season in May, and the season restarts in August. So that's a tiny window where football is not competing with RL. An awful lot of people, certainly in Manchester, would rather spend £25 in a pub watching United or City on dodgy Albanian Sky rather than pay £16 to go and watch Salford for example.
We don't have a code war here. We have every sport trying to play second fiddle to football.
From Hammersmith to the Shire to LA to the world!! Goodbye!

You are right. But seeing as this is nothing more than a rugby bashing thread, I thought I would even up the odds. Its funny, but of the rugby forums I browse there is never ever any rugby league bashing, just a growing respect for the sport and an admiration for the players of any level.
I guess rugby fans arent as narrow minded as rugby league fans, nor do they have that massive chip on their shoulder. I wonder at times how CJ manages to walk straight with the weight of that chip on his shoulder.
You are joking right. Have you never been on Planet Rugby forums, they refer our game as for the uneducated and call the fans mungoes. I think you should check it out for yourself and look at certain posters called Kovana and TranceNRG and then tell me there is no RL bashing, you are clueless mate.

Maybe they are just trolling or looking for a bite CJ?
Unbelievably some people like to do things like that.
And I've seen quite a few people bagging RU fans out on these forums... so its kinda the same thing really....
Well, it is personal choice. But I personally cannot understand why anyone would prefer to watch a scratchy feed from Albania over going to an actual game (especially my fellow City fans, as the ticket cost is probably similar to an afternoon in the pub). And I'd also hope that most people support their local team regardless of whether or not they're any good.
And there's actually six professional teams in Manchester

I'm sorry, but how anyone can say that a team getting almost one hundred points put on them in European rugby union's second most important club cup competition is beyond me.

I meant it wasn't really embarrassing, as in it could have been a lot worse.
You seem to know a bit about Union so you should know the difference in the levels between Spanish and English Rugby. We are light years ahead
We are one of the poorest top flight teams at the moment and we mauled the Spanish champions. We spilled so many balls, it really could have been over 20 tries. I can't find the scores but Brive put around 80 past them last year and Newcastle around 60.
It is the 2nd highest competition yes, but not many teams take it seriously. Realistically there's only the Aviva Premiership and Top 14 sides who have a chance of winning it. And even then the French teams don't really care about Europe. Connacht usually have a good go at it too.
Yes we beat them heavily, but I just meant they stuck at it. Stole a few balls, had a break away try in the first 5 minutes and showed a few signs of competitiveness.
