I'm quite sickened TBH, Ashley always knew he would sell Carroll from when Liverpool first made a bid 24 hours ago. It has just been dragged out so he looked as if he cared about the club and didn't want to sell the main man unless they forced his hand.

As soon as he knew what Liverpool were prepared to bid, we should've been trying to find a replacement and get the wheels in place for that, then accept the Liverpool offer.

Our front line now consists of Ameobi, Lovenkrands, Best, Ranger - there are probably better strike-forces in the Championship.

Did you really think we'd get £35m PLUS addons for him? Really?

Maybe, but there are worse in the Premiership and more importantly worse defences.

With some of the prices being payed out today i'd say Darren Bent is the bargin of the window, he'll give you 15+ goals along with a good fitness record. How much would Javier Hernandez have cost?
