| I never get this 'team x is buying the premiership' stuff. Every club buys to be successful, heck even York City are trying to buy our way to Premiership glory it's just no one wants to help us Every team in the Premiership spends millions as it is, what's a few more noughts here and there to spend. Absolutely nothing arguement and always will be.

Respect Milner as a player, but I don't see how any Man City player could get any joy or satisfaction if they do end up buying one or more trophies this season, absolutely no achievement whatsoever IMO.'"
That's because you're a moron.
No matter who Citeh buy, and they've bought some very good players but haven't exactly bought dozens of amazing ones, they've still got a massive improvement to make to actually step up to a trophy winning side. They've got to quickly become a team, they've got to overcome the added motivation from sides who they play, they've got to overcome over 30 years of Citeh tradition.
Citeh won't win the league this season. They're competing against 2 sides so strong and seasoned and simply don't have the experience to do it IMO. So if they actually do win the league they've proved me wrong and they've proven practically every pundit in the country wrong. How can that be no achievement whatsoever?
What club do you support? You definitely come across as a bitter red scouser but I don't remember you as being one.

Newcastle fan. I know it's been done by many clubs, but to nowhere near the extent that they're doing it, just saying IMO they won't have achieved anything if they buy the Premiership and/or Champions League (eventually). Man United on the other hand (as much I dislike them) deserve their many years of incredible success because they earned it.

Man United's run of success owes itself as much to their wealth as anything else. They were lucky to become the biggest club in the country and to start a reign of success at the beginning of the Sky era. They were also helped massively by being in the CL every year. They have massive advantages over everyone else but you never get anyone belittling their honours.
Even with unlimited wealth, Citeh face a massive climb to be able to compete with the likes of Man United and Chelsea to win titles. Those clubs have top, established players and have the knowledge and experience of what it takes to win the major prizes. They have managers who have won a pair of CL titles each.
For you to say that Citeh beating them to the title isn't an achievement is just stupid. Of course they wouldn't even be challenging without the money, but just because they have the money there is still a huge amount of luck and hard work involved to earn them a league title.
And you geordies tried to buy your place at the top of English football and managed to screw it up. Tough 5hit that your rich benefactors aren't rich enough or are just divvy frauds.

Those 6 players have been critical parts of Ferguson's success, and (IIRC) were all basically home-grown players.
For every Van Nistelroy (sp) or Ferdinand that Man U brought they've also developed young players as they've gone along.
Like I said everyone's opinion's different, but mine is that Man City are not a big club and would be 11th or 12th in the league without the rich owner. They'll never be anywhere near the size of Man U or Liverpool, and assuming the owner gets bored and pulls the plug within a few years they probably won't buy many trophies anyway.

No club in England will probably ever be able to compete with the size of Manchester United.
But Liverpool have an old ground that's too small and are desperate for foreign owners to come in and keep them at the top. If they don't get the new owners, don't get a new stadium and slide down the league then Citeh can easily become a bigger club than them.
Nobody is under any illusion that Citeh would be anywhere near where they are without the money that's been splashed upon them. But FFS going from that to Citeh never deserving any credit whatever they do is pathetic.
Citeh could end up being a major force in world football. They could end up being the biggest joke in football. The money is a huge factor in them possibly being a world force, but it's by no means guaranteed that's where they're heading.
I truly hope Citeh win nothing from a billion pounds of investment. I hope they end up relegated like Leeds and Newcastle. But if they won the title this season, they'd deserve credit for pulling off a major victory against better sides and established teams. Trying to belittle any achievement they get is just childish.

I hope City go down too, would love to see real clubs like Newcastle and Leeds back near the top where both belong.

Trust me they will never, ever be anywhere near as big as Liverpool - Liverpool are one of the biggest and most famous clubs in the game with supporters all over the world. City (and Chelsea) are pretty much un-followed outside the UK.

Nothing wrong with that.99% of other teams fans would love to have a big money backer. We were just lucky the Jack came along before the billionaires did otherwise we would never have won the title as he never had that kind of money.I suppose the thing about Jack that is not the same as the new money men is he was a Rovers fan from birth and not just looking for any club to take over.

You do make me chuckle lad. How on earth can pocketing over £100k a week and winning a title not be enjoyable? I'd bloody love it!
To belittle any team winning a title is preposterous and if Mancini manages it with Man City it would be nothing but extremely impressive. To assemble a squad over one summer and have it challenge immediately would be very impressive. All Man City are doing is what Utd and Chelsea have done over the past few years, just at an accelerated pace.

Will have to agree to disagree. Give any team £200million-£300million and they could probably buy trophies. If they end up with the Premiership I personally won't feel they've achieved anything (same with Chelsea), whereas Arsenal or Man U I would. Just my opinion.

How were United "lucky" in becoming the countrys biggest club? We always have been even when we weren't winning titles, mainly due to our worldwide popularity, hence getting 45k a week in division 2. As for bringing players through we're by far the best at it.

1 regular in the last 10 years, I'm sure a number of clubs have brought more through to be regulars in the last 10 years.
In fact that group of youngsters is another slice of luck. Not many, if any, clubs get so many good players through in one period that become the spine of a team.
