Reading reports that Dave Brailsford has said that Cav is free to leave Sky should he wish to do so.
The more I understand about Dave Brailsford the classier guy I think he is. Reading between the lines this suggests that they might not make someone buy him out of his contract.
This opens things up for something which I've been thinking about in the last few days - a second British team perhaps with Cav as the team leader? I understand that Sir Richard Branson is desperate to fund a cycling team.
It's these kind of things that we need to see if Britain is to capitalise on the journey we have been on over the last few years. In a very short space of time we have gone from the ITV GC listing with the top 8 (and 2 or 3 random Brits in 79th, 142nd and 189th) to the top 2 spots on the podium. Amazing.
