'I saw this banner on Saturday too. I think it was brought to the game by fans of Bucherest itself as i saw them getting photograped with it by a pitchside steward about 45 mins or so before the game started. Apart from the obvious of bring another clubs banner to our game proclaiming there European Cup win of 1986, i may be a bit dim here but how is it offensive and linked apparantly to Heysel as the OP suggests. The only link i can think of is simply thats it's the year after.'

Once again the staggeringly hypocritical attitudes of scousers towards Heysel and Hillsborough come through.

I'm far from outraged, this sort of thing happens in footie all the time, but it shouldn't.

People will see it the way they want to see it.

Why would they not have been favorates for the cup? It was a time when English football was dominating europe and an English team had gotten to the final in 8 out of the 9 years previous. I'm by no means an Everton fan but can appreciate how good of a team that was, i mean they beat the mighty Liverpool to the title and had won the Cup winners cup with us stopping them winning the treble with the "Whitesides onside" goal in the fa cup final.

Interesting that Liverpool do this...the holy Mancs jump on it don't remember anyone saying anything thing about the 39 dead Italians can't be wrong banner.
