Pleased United got the shopping done early on allowing the new players to bed in and gel during pre-season. Great to see Cleverley being given the chance to push on too.
How much did Liverpool pay for Meireles? Great business if they made a profit when he was sold.
They paid £11.5m to Porto did they not, which when you add in agents fees, signing on fees and medical expenses etc will be at least as much as the £12m Chelsea paid for him. So break even on a player who didn't want to stay. You can't keep players in that situation, it will never be beneficial.

Especially given his age, value is only likely to get smaller from here on in.
Decent player mind, but don't think he would have started too many games for Liverpool (should have over Henderson though).
Meireles is a decent player but too inconsistent, if you ask me. Having read a few articles on the internet though, I'm now suprsied that AVB wanted him as he shipped him off to us instantly at Porto classing him as dead wood. Just wish we hadn't of sent Aquaman on loan now.
I'd personally like to thank Chelsea for taking a striker who has scored 1 or 2 goals in 7 months, our 5th choice central midfielder and Benayoun in exchange for Suarez, Downing, Adam, Enrique, Coates and Bellamys wages.
Much obliged.
24 players out of Liverpool with only Brad Jones remaining from Woys Weign of Tewwow. 8 players in and roughly 150k a week off the wage bill with money in the bank for a raid on an attacking midfielder in January.

Aquilani would have been good to keep hold of but ATEOTD his heart was in Italy and I don't think there's much we could have done about. It feels brilliant to actually have a squad now rather than relying on same players over and over again. Our 2nd XI now is probably better than some of the teams we were sending out in the Europa League group games last season.

Flanno, Robinson, Coady, Wilson all squad players.
The only place we look weak there is our 2nd XI central midfield. WE'll rectify that in January and It's still better than Everton's first choice.
You will need a centre back to really challenge for the title. Jamie Carragher is the football equivalent of Paul Wellens. A borderline club legend who is thoroughly past his best and now ruining his legacy by becoming a complete liability.

Sadly, I agree.
Lessons can be learned by looking at how United have managed their older players such as Neville, Giggs etc. I expect to see less and less of Carra as the season goes on.
