Type - "Celtic Remembrance Poppy Shame" into a well know video site and that sums it all up.
Scumbags.
At the risk of turning this into a political debate, the movement away from the Poppy symbolising the loss of life in World War One to one that now symbolises not only the loss of life but to supporting current wars is a reason the red poppy is now starting to cause upset, not just in communities such as the Irish and it's friends.
I'm no lover of the British Army, and I'm quite happy to speak out at some of the atrocities carried out in the name of our country over the years, but this was not the time nor the place for such a demonstration. Nor are the dead soldiers in question responsible for the orders that their Government gives them.
Celtic and Rangers as clubs have made great efforts to remove some Rangers fans religious bigotry and some Celtic fans dubious political opinions away from football but this has knocked the efforts back some way. It might sit easier with others if the Green Brigade were as quick to denounce the 'deeds' of IRA terrorists in a moral stance against all war, but that wouldn't be fitting in with their agenda.
However, the last time I heard, we were allowed a freedom of speech in this country. That's their viewpoint and surely they have a right to express it.
