Am liking the look of Showcasing NRNB 9/2 for the Duke Of York Stakes.

Its stood its ground after looking like going Newbury instead, as a 3 yo it goes off at 8st 11 getting weight from Main Aim who is 9st 7 and O'Briens Aussie import Starspangledbanner who is 9st 12.

Showcasing could be well in if ready and showing the form which won it the Gimcrack Stakes over this C&D

Taken 5/1 on Hannon's Invincible Soul in the 3.40 at Warwick

Curely is ace with his novices, usually long odds too.

Absolutely staggering stuff, can't see Barney getting away with this one. Purely and simply sticking 2 fingers up to the powers that be!

His 3 runners all backed at bigger early morning prices and ended up something like....

13/2 into 2/1 and wins....

9/2 into 11/10 and wins....

4/1 into 1/3 and gets turned over....

The other backed from 25's into 5/4 that won he obviously is connected to having trained it himself previously as well as his assistant training it before moving to it's current home with Chris Grant.

Unbelievable stuff and ridiculous to even think how much the sting would have been worth if the other had won!

Just my opinion.

I don't think the BHA will let him get away with it. At a time when they're trying to attract new people to the sport and the whole racing for change etc....seeing a trainer pull off a coup like this with horses that have blatantly been run over wrong distances, on wrong ground in order to drop them to a mark to win from is pushing it a bit far IMO.

I've read on other forums people sticking up for him and saying it goes on and plenty of other trainers do it, but I've yet to see any other trainer attempt to pull of a coup as blatant as this with involvement of 4 horses like yesterday.

Agapanthus was beaten over 100 lengths in it's last race over hurdles....Savaronola was beaten over 65 lenghts 2 runs ago over hurdles, Sommersturm (may not matter as much cos it got beat, but only by 5 length yesterday) last two times on the aw over this trip was beaten 31 lengths and 29 lengths and then Jeu De Roseau although now trained by Chris Grant, Curley and his team obviously played a part in yesterday and when under the guidance of Curley (albeit a couple of years ago) the last time it ran in a hurdle race over 2 miles on good ground it was beaten 77 lengths.

Hardly the stuff of a genuine racehorse trainer to me. :?

To be honest I think it's great, I love gambles on unexposed horses  People who are placing a bet should know or be made aware of B.Curley's reputation.

You'd have to start taking action against near enough every trainer if you believe that intentionally running horses to lower their mark is worth such severe penalties.

i agree with this... unfair on the punter who spends hours trying to pick the winner... whos going to back a horse beaten by the lengths the ones above have?!

horses should be trying to win everytime they run! but unfortunately we know this sort of thing goes on, pipe stable is one that does the same thing.

If you spend hours trying to pick the winner in a race like that then you might as well give up.
