My dad was a teenager in the late 60's/early 70's so remembers them all well and his first game was the 10-0 beating of Oslo in the European cup. Heard that a lot over the years calling us "dirty" but it was often by people back then who were bitter that we could dish it out and also play them off the park too. We weren't the only team to dish it out everyone did it back then, just the way the game was!

I think any successful team had to have the physicality as well as the skill to be at the top in that era - todays referees wouldn't allow some of the stuff that went on then which was seen as 'normal' - all those great teams Chelsea,Arsenal & Leeds especially all had the same qualities tho' for me you lot had the edge with Bremner,Giles,Sniffer etc etc - great times. As a neutral football fan it would be great to see them back at the top where they belong.

Gary Neville has been magnificent for Utd and has been a cornerstone over the success under Fergie. Definately the right time to retire. Wonder if he will take Ole's old job?

I'd be very, very surprised. I posted a week or so back about the dust up Nev and Fergie had, looks like that was true. If what I was told was correct I think he'll be moving on now. I'm shocked that so little has been said about the timing.

Loving the anti-Neville tripe on here. Gary Neville has been by far the best right back in the premier league and it's not even close. The second for me is Gary Kelly who has been mentioned who was massively under rated. Lee Dixon is / was not fit to lace Gary Neville's boots - or Kelly's for that matter.

The reason that people don't like Neville is due to him being a WUM - that clouds their judgement. He's the professional football version of Enfield Exile and LGJM. They spout a lot of tripe to get a reaction, which takes away from the fact that a lot of the time they make very good points. ;)

So, basically, you picked up a 'move' from Poznan ultras?

Cheers hopefully we'll get back there in the next couple of years. The last 5-6 years seemed to have lasted forever but we're going the right way. There's much better teams than us this year so maybe next year we can put in a title challenge and bring a few players in!

Either way it looked very camp at Birmingham.

The rumour mill is going all out at the moment. People are now rumouring that Everton players haven't been paid this week. Surely that would've come out in the press properly? The FA would be all over it wouldn't they? Also seems that a Director/Former Direct wants some money he loaned to the club back and they don't have it. I just hope they can manage to beat someone and get back to being hard to beat and put this horror season behind us.

Where've you heard this one mate?

TBF I've heard, from people in the club, that the finances are healthy. Yes, we haven't got millions spur to buy players but the loans are good and the banks are happy with them and the club finances for running the club are fine.

Take whatever Saddened says with a heart-stopping dose of salt ;)

We'd of heard more if the players hadn't been paid, also that generally doesn't happen until the finances are really, really screwed. Investment is badly needed but it's hardly that bad...

Bloke in work mentioned it yesterday and it's on a couple of forums today (Such as 606). Apparently it comes from Heitinga's agent mouthing off, but I don't believe it anymore than you or MSH.
