As for Rooney, I've made no secrets of my lack or appreciation for his talents. He's a good player, but I believe he's massively overhyped. He's a good player who works hard and isn't this type of individual who has to be carried, but, in terms of his sheer ability and his influence on a football game/ability to score goals, I don't believe he's in the upper echelons some like to think he is. I'm sure my good mate Mark will put it down to bitterness, but I've never rated him, not even when he was the Boy Wonder at Everton.
And for someone to don't rate Rooney is just stupid, in fact that part of your post is completely laughable. The lad is absolute class, I've never understood why you have this opinion of Rooney and never will. Look back at some of the goals he's scored and they're world class, his work rate is superb as is his fitness rate, he's constantly up and down the field for United and his desire is second to none but the bit of your post that got me was saying his influence on a game isn't in the upper echelons is bizarre, the goals he scores and sets up for United are vital to them and have been in everything they've acheived so far. How you can say his influence isn't what it should after he's just scored two hat tricks on the run is foolish.
He's already better than most strikers in Europe now and once he finished he'll go down as one of the best ever to play the game. ATEOTD he's a forward so he'll ultimately be judged on his goal scoring and nobody can call that, he scores goals for a laugh as well as setting them up, tracking back and giving everything for his club. The lad has every aspect to his game.
