£8m wasted on Riera. Rafa has had no money to spend in his time at Liverpool though.
Was it £8m?
I remember reading a few different figures, I read elsewhere that he cost us £5m as we sold then Finnan, or Finnan was included in the deal.
Riera is a good player, he's had some top games in his time here and, when I've seen him for Spain, he's never looked out of place in the best international side in the world. This year he's gone AWOL, he's had injuries, he's struggled for form and now this, it wouldn't surprise me if he does leave. It's a shame as he's a talented lad, he just struggles to motivate himself to play every week and he seems to disappear in games quite easily.
After Riera confirmed what a to$$bag Benitez is and how poor a manager he is, how can he stay there?
How can he turn up to watch training from a distance and not be embarassed?
Riera is another rubbish signing on a massive list of Benitex mistakes.
Honestly, you are an imbecile. I'm sorry, but you don't achieve what Benitez has in the game, you don't reject some of the job offers Benitez has, and still be a poor manager. You say Benitez has wasted money and Moyes is some kind of messiah because your shower continually punch above their weight, well Rafa won two la liga's back in Spain with a side punching well above their weight and a CL title with us punching well above our weight. The man has his flaws and it seems his time at Liverpool is coming to an end, but you don't become a bad manager overnight and Benitez's record in his career speaks for itself; vastly superior to Moyes.

If Riera had a problem with not being picked, then he should ask Benitez for a meeting to see why he's not being picked. If he doesn't feel comfortable talking directly with the manager then he should talk things over with the assistant manager, or one of the coaching staff.
To whine to a radio station is just stupid though.
I don't think this says much about Benitez. IMO every single manager will have players whinging like this that the manager doesn't value them and won't play them. Mourinho will have these complaints against him, Wenger, Ferguson, Capello, all of them. It's just part of a footballers make-up that if things are going wrong in his career, it's someone else's fault.
The only reason that Riera's comments are being listened to is because Liverpool are struggling. If Liverpool were challenging for the title again and still in the CL 99% of LFC supporters would just tell him to **** off and not let the door hit him on the way out. It's because Liverpool have been poor this season that Riera's comments will be listened to.
Didn't Malouda pull a Riera earlier in the year? Seems to have worked for him. Nani also did it with Fergie. I'd expect Benitez to just ignore it like the other big boys do.
