Apparently our first two new signings will be announced today as Barry Conlon and Peter Thorne.

If I'm right Conlon is a big battering ram type journeyman striker that has his uses at this level, and Thorne was always a decent enough player at a higher level a few years back so they sound reasonable enough additions.

Surprisingly enough, we're also looking at a young central midfielder released by Everton. Why don't we just announce Everton as our parent club and have done with it

Things are looking pretty sweet for Chester.

The new manager is making the right noises and we've enjoyed our best pre-season recruitment campaign for several years.

We've added John Murphy from Blackpool/Macc Town, Kevin Ellison and Gavin Ward from Tranmere, Richie Partridge from Rotherham and Nathan Lowndes from Vale. Add to this the return of Ashley Westwood from a loan spell at Swindon and things look good.

It'll all end in tears no doubt!

When you've hardly got a playing squad to speak of, you have to start somewhere. They'll add some experience up front without pulling up any trees at that level I'd imagine.

I'm finding the reaction of some of our fans quite amusing, they seemed to be think we'd be signing the likes of Robbie Fowler and Teddy Sheringham

Erm, I don't mean to spoil your self club ego, but Bradford City have never been able to attract the likes of Robbie Fowler or Teddy Sheringham, even when you were in the Premiership.

That was kinda the point he was making.

I got the point that other City fans think they are a big club and can buy players who are bigger than the club.

Paul Evans is back at City on trial with a view to a permanent deal. I'd be happy with that. He'd be a good player at this level assuming he's over his injuries.
