| Quote citywolf="citywolf"Sky have bought the rights to F1 from next season. They will now show practice, qualifying and the race itself.
BBC will show half the races including Monaco, Silverstone and the final race of the season.
Little bit gutted as I think the BBC coverage is excellent with a great announce team. Martin Brundle pushing infront of French film crews can be tv gold at times.'"
Maybe now the BBC will revert to how much coverage they gave F1 before they re-bought the rights, ie very little. Their website used to have a small amount of F1, since they re-bought the rights they had 'Vettel column', 'Button column', 'Hamilton column, F1 gossip column, F1 videos, they even moved F1 to second on the list of sports down the left hand side of the page. Knew this would happen eventually though, was pished off when they nabbed the cricket, not so bothered about this but feel for the people who are. Just another victim of greed corp.
On a plus side, less Jake Humphrey

| The money the sport demands for coverage though means that the bbc were never gonna be serious competitors when it came to bidding for the next round of viewing rights. At least half the races will still be shown and have highlights of every race thru the season too - so it's better than nothing, as they could have easily not bid anything and used the money elsewhere.

| Don't like the news about Sky. BBC's coverage of F1 is pretty much spot on. No doubt Sky will have commercial breaks.
OT but Sky ruined golfs Masters, should be on BBC

| I look forward to Sky bringing the same professional, cutting edge coverage they had for A1 GP to Formula One.
No, really.

I'm hoping they'll use Keith Huewen as presenter as he's good doing the Indycar and Speedway.I'd also like them to nick David Croft off 5live to do the commentary.

Looks like they've gone for the tv rights after being rebuffed over a potential takeover of F1.

yeah... To be fair with the money involved it was only a matter of time before sky jumped in.
I'm sure they will do a good job, but I personally love the BBC coverage...... Over the last few years I think the beeb have screwed lots of things up, from dramas to sports coverage..... But the F1 has always been top notch..... Yet another great sporting institution lost to the media empire.
P.S. I'm not a miserable old git, just set in my ways a little.

I agree, I've enjoyed the BBC coverage and it's a shame they'll only be covering half the races. With Sky having the tv rights, that should now put any plans they had to takeover dead in the water and out of the two options, the tv rights may be the lesser of two evils.

| F1 should be on the BBC and free to air and not on subscription TV.

| Sky have now announced a dedicated F1 channel from next season. Sky Sports f1hd. Supposed to have a tonne of interactive options aswell.
Have also said they will show the races without advert breaks.
Am looking forward to seeing what they do but will miss the beeb coverage.

| Good of Vettel to fake a gearbox problem yesterday so Webber could have a turn at winning.
The Sky coverage is probably going to end up just being the same as BBC anyway, giving they've already got Brundle and members of the BBC production crew signed up.
