Tell you what, not accusing anyone on here of lying, but on my facebook, text messeges I receieved etc, it's very co-incidental the amount of people who backed an 100/1 horse, but no one mentioned the horse they backed before it.

Aftertiming, it's great isn't it.

I sat down with the paper this morning and started my usual strategy of eliminating those I thought simply could not win.

Mon Mome was about the 4th or 5th horse I put the marker pen through.

I was lucky, I narrowed it down to five and spotted that Totesport were paying 5 places so I backed all five each way. My fifth rated selection was Mon Mome.

For the record my most fancied pulled-up (Rambling Minster) but all the others got round (Butlers Cabin, Idle Talk and Cornish Sett joining the winner in completing).

The downside today ... the death of Hear The Echo following Exotic Dancer earlier in the week.

Rhino Dan, don't be too disappointed. Look at it this way: you've just enjoyed 3 days of sporting entertainment of the very highest order, had a load of fun, and it hasn't cost you a farthing (in fact, you're in profit!)

Invincible, your uncle sounds like a pretty wise man. Today I drew money on the first race (Ainama e/w), found the winner in the second race (Kalahari King), and had a nice pay out in the third (United e/w, backed at 40/1 in the morning). Made myself a nice few bob off the bookies.....then handed it all back on the National.

Common sense must be a marvellous thing !

I had £1 EW on the winner. I had Black Apalachi, Hear The Echo, Offshore Account as my 'proper' three bets, then Mon Mome & a pipe runner, began with a K, that was 100-1 too as a couple of outsiders.

I was gutted, Offshore Account was rapidly going backwards, I hadn't paid Mon Mome any attention. It was a bit bizarre.

Only bet on the Friday & Saturday, had £10 on El Dancer Friday, Mon Mome & Solwhit (sic) I think at 13/2. Enjoyed the racing alot actually.

Didn't the last three races yesterday finish with 100-1, 66-1, 66-1 or similar. Madness.

I think Arteea was the Pipe outsider.

Yes, Mon Mome 100/1, Culcabock 66/1 & Sitting Tennant 66/1.

Would have made a very profitable treble - pays 435,600 to 1.

I had a fiver on Comply or Die so gutted to be beaten by a 100-1 outsider.
