Eng v NZ : Thu May 16, 2013 7:45 am
Morning [insert name here], morning everyone. Happy start-of-the-international-summer day.

One thing: If you keep saying how you're not being complacent about something, you probably already are.

England won toss: batting. Finn in, Bresnan on a train to Birmingham to usurp Rich Pyrah.

Nice three days off for Pyrah at this rate. Feet up, sun out, watch a bit of cricket and get paid for it.

Not seen Compton's dismissal yet, but the descriptions seem to match the phrase "brain fart"

Built pressure, tried to release, failed. Can see what he was trying to do, but it was all a bit... unnecessary

Bell's was a bit daft, too.

Slow run rate, but still interesting to watch. The position at the end of today will make for interesting reviewing.

I've already been on the phone to the ECB offering my services as mentor to Golden Child during both Ashes series.

It is quite amazing what happens when he stops trying to be this 'enforcer' character and aims to hit the top of off-peg. I mean, who knew that would be successful?

Problems for NZ with Watling and Martin out of the second Test. Looks like Guptill back in with McCullum taking the gloves and Dan Vettori in for his first Test in almost a year.
