Cycling Round Up

Be interested to hear people thoughts post Giro, Dauphine, mid Suisse, post Wiggo-gate on the cycling world right now.

I loved the Dauphine. Love or hate Contador he sure knows how to race and with him taking the race to Froome almost single handedly it means that we're about to hit a Tdf where in my view there is no clear favourite for the first time in a while.

What is up with Team Sky this year? I know that they have had a bit more illness in the team this year but there are several of the riders looking seriously out of sorts. This could well be Team Skys worst year so far in professional racing.

mid Suisse - Wiggins isn't doing himself any favours but I have heard that he is yet another of the team with a chest infection.

Wiggo-gate - whats your take on this? My view is he has already been told he isn't going and he was doing a bit of PR/self marketing in the BBC breakfast interview.

My view is that as things stand, if Wiggo can get better/be ar$ed then he simply has to go. Contador/other teams will beat Sky at the tour this year as they can see how weak they are in 2014. If Wiggo does go then he could well get a significant advantage after Stage 2 and the cobbled stage which gives everone else something to think about.

Sky really haven't helped themselves by abandoning the policy of not using TUEs for cortisone.

I'm reading 'Inside Team Sky' right now and have just got past the chapters covering the team doctors and the Gert Leinders episode.

Like you I'm very confused around the TUE episode as it is completely at odds with their culture.

To me it looks like an act of desperation to keep Froome going as it is looking very likely that the whole focus of their year is looking like a lame duck.
