what is it with football ??....either code of rugby ,or indeed any other sport on TV , the pundits and so called experts can actually admit when the england team were appalling..why not our 'national game'.??

Personally now fed of hearing how good England played tonight ...boll***S- how many times did they shoot on goal n more importantly put it in the net ???? (the thing that actually wins you the game )???

Fed up of over paid pundits making excuses for over paid prima donnas...

Roll on tomorrow and a proper game

I agree Rach - far too much money in the game and it's spoiled it, taken all the fun away. I'll stick with RL I think!
If you want another sport with tough but sporting competitors, doing it for love and not money, check out fell running; some seriously tough guys and gals doing the business there!

I have always maintained that when we play any team that are comfortable on the ball we will struggle.

The days of so called lesser teams have gone as skill levels and organisation have increased whereas our game has stayed roughly the same.

Until fifa or whoever start a proper reduction in foreigners in premiership the national team will be treading water.

I do not believe we will beat Algeria whilst they are not the best they are quite a skilful side.

Just one thing though to help england team rattle opposition could they not do war dance led by manager and call it the haka pello

We did alright. USA are not the mugs that some people who don't have much knowledge about world football make them out to be.

In last year's Confederations Cup, a World Cup test event, featuring the champions of every continent and the world cup winners, the United States beat European Champions and World Cup favourites Spain in the semi-finals (their only defeat in the last 3 years and 45 games), and were 2-0 up against Brazil in the final before losing 3-2. Despite having no superstars they are a very good team.

Had it not been for a once in a career mistake from the keeper, we would have won the game.

I get the impression that some people think if we don't beat every team 8-0 playing like the 1982 Brazil team we're useless.

We did ok, positives were the right side with Lennon and the outstanding Johnson. Heskey's link up play was great, superb assist for the goal. If he could finish he would be comparable with Ronaldo. Negatives, Lampard went missing for large periods constantly giving the ball away which is a complete no-no at international level. Milner was rightly taken off, Cherundolo was giving him the run around. Our back four looks vulnerable to pace now Ferdinand is out.

As I recall it.

Why can't these deluded fools realise that we don't have a divine right to win every tournament we appear at.

We have a decent team capable of going far in the World Cup but not capable of winning it IMO.

Why? As a qualified football and badminton coach I feel it because as a country we have a inherrent problem where we teach kids how to win at sport before we teach the fundamentals. In many sports, Football, both codes of rugby, spring to mind we technically light years behind the rest of the world.

Every time I hear the phrase "why can't we just knock it" at a under 9's game it makes me cringe.

Let kids express themselves and play and we'll produce much better teams in the future.
