Cougars Summer Camp - A great success. : Fri Aug 06, 2010 8:03 am
Last week the Community Cougars Foundation held their first Summer Camp which was deemed as a great success.50 children attended the camp each day where they learnt not only rugby core skills such as passing and tackling but also the importance of team building and having fun.
The camp started at 10am and finished at 3pm with an option of an extra 2 hours until 5pm. The children participated in rugby skills sessions as well as fun and games using all the brand new equipment such as tackle bags, balls and SAQ equipment such as agility posts, ladders and hurdles.
Friday was named Challenge Day with an assault course which tested the skills the children had learnt over the week. This was then followed by a tag rugby tournament, 4 teams taking part to earn points in challenges such as, how many times can you play the ball in a minute or how many tackle bag hits can you do in three minutes.
All the activities were based around rugby core skills, fun and games, team building and enjoyment. All the children had a fantastic week at the Summer Camp and Community Cougar Foundation manager Dean Muir was delighted "The camp was a great success. Everyone worked together and communicated extremely well. The coaches that delivered the camp were fantastic and I must say a big thank you to Jordan and Ash whose enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile made the camp."
The Community Cougars Foundation are holding the second Summer Camp from the 23rd -27th August, Camp times are 10am-3pm, cost per day is £8 or £35 for the week. For an extra £3 per day there is an extra two hours from 3pm-5pm.
