This weekends fixtures : Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:04 pm
Ours fixture against Rochdale is not the only game of interest for us this weekend.

I hope we ease through a first win in the NRC with a little more comfort than the last minute snatch of the game as we did in our recent friendly.

I think Friday evenings game of Swinton v Fax will be very interesting for us. Many are saying Swinton are the team to beat in C1 this season. Then again after Bulls squashed fax recently 50-8 are they the force they were last year. Would be worth going over to see how Danny Jones goes for them.

Barrow entertain York on Saturday. I wonder if JP will need horlicks to get some sleep tonight.
Might be a reality check for the Knights.

Oldham and Hunslet should be a good old battle. I wouldn't like to call it. I hope after seeing Hunslet recently they would have enough to see off Oldham. If Oldham can pull this one off, then they might be giving us problems later in the season.

Then Workington and Whitehaven. No love to be lost in that one.

Poor old Rams have to travel to Toulouse twice this season. Starting with Tomorrow. Last years game was after a 24 hr journey due to volcanic ash. They might pull it off this year.

I think the closest game will be Batley and Leigh.

As for
Featherstone v Doncaster
Gateshead v Sheffield
London Skolars v Widnes

Which one will be most like a cricket score?

THANK GOD, THE SEASON IS HERE.................................

oldham will be strong this season,as for the Hawks, they will be lucky to win a game.

Barrow will smash York into next week

The Lions and the Scorpions will be the teams to watch.
Unsure about Worky and the Hornets but would like Donny to do well.

At last, the season is upon us

Fev will whoop ar@£ in the championship
As for us, :SILENCE:

It'll be interesting what improvement we have made since we played Rochdale a few weeks back.

Getting 3 Championship sides in the NRC in consecutive games is a blessing in disguise. We'll come out battle hardened against better teams than we'll be playing for the rest of the season with the added bonus that we've beaten all 3 of them in the last year so there's a chance we could progress undefeated.

But it doesn't matter that fax only just lost to Hull KR in a last second try ?.

We certainly will be the same force if not better as our defence has been truelly bolstered and it showed against Hull KR.

We have names our squad against Swinton at the willows tonight and it is a big mobile team, We will use the width and the pace of Worrincy, Patterson, Haley, White. If its a game of 5 drives and kick due to weather then i would not worry too much with the pack we got and Jones to kick, if he can sort his Kicking game out tonight. ( weather wont help ) If not we'll use beswicks kicking game for some 40-20 as last year he hit shed loads of em.

Good luck with your season.

Northern Rail Cup

Featherstone 54-10 Doncaster
Not a bad effort from Donny against IMO the best Championship team last season.

Swinton 22-28 Halifax
This is a bit of a shocker. Either the team who finished 8th in Championship 1 has changed beyond recognition from last season to run so close to the Championship grand final winners.

Or Did Fax have a serious off day?

Maybe somebody who was there can answer

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

Anon.

I think Swinton are a stronger better coached side than last year and will be a real threat (as some of us already pointed out  )

I would imagine the conditions played a big factor. Remember, we nearly beat batley early last season only to get hammered at their place on a dry pitch.

Edit: just read the fax forum, sounds like the pitch was good but very windy. Swinton sound like a strong side.

If you're going to go all that way and lose, you might as well go down in a classic.

Unlike when we lost to 12 men.
