Under 18's: Holderness Vikings 42 Keighley 36 : Sun Apr 17, 2011 7:32 pm
Keighley travelled to Humberside to take on Holderness Viking with a muched changed side, with key players missing due to U-23's committments. However the side put gave everything and with unfortunate to come away in defeat. Holderness surged infront in 1st half to lead 24-6 with Jordan Aitchison scoring Keighleys only response to The Vikings 5 tries. However late in the half, and helped by miss goal attempts by the host, James Etherington went over to score and with Ben Stead converting both Keighley tries, it gave them a glimmer of hope at the break. The fightback continued in the 2nd half, Luke Whiteley scored twice, the 2nd try coming after a break from his own half by Joe Connolly and a fine pass to the supporting Whiteley. Keighley went infront through Aitchison, who made a quick tap that suprised the home side that were expecting to play to be stopped for an injury. However, Holderness responded with 2 converted tries, but Keighley were capable of coming back a 2nd time and did so, 1st through Josh Ives, then in the last 5mins, Bradley Kelk who levelled the scores at 36-36. But in a cruel twist, Holderness had time to snatch the win.
