Thinking that EVEN the RFL might be slightly interested in a competition that offers little for everyone else, I though that I'd check yesterday's results on the 'results' page of THEIR website. So, after selecting 'Anglo French Challenge' I obtained the following result:

Then I thought surely the 'Sky Live Score Centre' must have the results? But they didn't!

Same result - apologies for the pun!

Finally, despite giving little prominence to Rugby League, I checked 'The Sunday Times' which gave the following details:

Carcassonne 12 Sheffield 40
Leigh 44 Olympique Avignon 10
Toulouse 54 Halifax 26

Now, I'm waiting for Northern to be saved yet again. According to Coulby, they only need another £1.2 million to get through the season! They apparently have someone willing to stump-up £700K so, already having raised £500K the remaining £500K should be simple!

At least we know the extent of their problems but, it would appear, they managed to 'pull the wool' over the RFL's eyes!

The same (incorrect) result was in the Sunday Telegraph as well so I suspect it was courtesy of the Press Association.

Sorry 'Leyther_Matt', so what was the actual score?

According to tonight's BBC Yorkshire's 'Look North' - Featherstone were crowned Champions of the competition!

How do they do that?

A RFL version of the 'Duckworth-Lewis' formula?

The Fax result was the wrong way around, Fax won.

This competition is a joke.

The Featherstone game was the only one for any silverware with them as our Champions played the French Champions Pia and won 48-22 to be crowned "Champions of Europe" even though I'm pretty sure Super League is the European Rugby League Championship.

As for point of the other games, they added up the aggregate scores for the English vs the French teams in a really expensive way of showing that the French League isn't quite as good as the English 2nd tier.

They couldn't organise the proverbial 'Booz-up-in-a-brewery' could they?

Good job Lewis has returned to his first love, 'Wimbledon', where he can become the Chief Ball Boy!

With a further complication being that, although Pia finished top of the league, they buggered it up in the play-offs and Carcassonne won the Grand Final, so actually Sheffield played the 'official' French champions!
