Reading this weeks Keighley News. I was shocked to find out a person, who used to run a football team, i played for has been convicted of being a paedophile. I have known this man since i was 16. To say i am shocked is a understatement.
I have been told of one very recently convicted paedophile, who is trying to make friends (using facebook) with people who work with young people. This paedophile knows the people he is contacting know what he is. Have these people know shame?
I despise any one who takes advantage, of the mentally or physically vulnerable. What can be done with people like this? Can treatment work? Or should they just swing from the end of a short rope?
Anyone who abuses the most vulnerable in our society is despicable and a pathetic excuse for a human being.
They are a waste of oxygen and resource on our already over populated planet.
For victims of sexual offences like rape, paedophilia and child pornography the psychological scars are like a life sentence.
I wouldn't advocate capital punishment because I believe justice should mean justice and not revenge.
I think they should be removed from society permanently, and forced to work full time hours in prison earning minimum wages which is paid to their victims as compensation for what they've been through.
I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.
Do you really think that this abhorrent subject is suitable for discussion on the forum of a family based club, even if you do tag it as O/T?????
I don't see why not. As long as any discussion stays within the AUP and people can discuss it in a sensible and adult way. Something i think the users on this site can do.
This subject needs to be out in the open more and more. People can bury there heads in the sand and hope it doesn't happen to there kids. Parents need to know more about it, they need to talk to there kids.
Anything that can help this type of thing stop can only be good.
Anything that can shame/scare and hopefully stop these people doing it can only be a good thing.
signed up yesterday, came on here to read and find out more about my local rugby team, got reminded that monsters exist.
Hi Code switch.
The thing is these monsters as you call them do exist. Hopefully the more people are aware of how these monsters, carry on the less bad things will happen to kids.
I really think, the people on here are capable of having, some very in depth discussions. Taking into account the use O/T subjects doesn't really get used much. Maybe its time it was used more. Lots of other sites on here, have some cracking O/T subjects hopefully we can.

Personaly the only in depth discussions I want to have on here are about rugby , my club and the occasional drunken antics of those who support it and I'm sure there are many others that regularly post on here who would share exactly the same view

The sin bin is very good. I posted on here because it happened in Keighley. A lot of people dont read the sin bin. Hopefully posting it on here will make people think about it more. These people can be anywhere. Those of us using this site should be more aware of then others.

If thats the case, then you or anyone else can make the type of posts you want to. You can join in or feel free not to post on any other thread.
Thats the great thing about posts under the title of O/T, people have the choice.

Noble sentiments, but since this is not a problem peculiar to Keighley why discuss it on a Keighley rugby forum viewed by a couple of hundred people at most?
There is a forum on these boards especially for this type of O/T subject called the "Sin Bin", as well you know. It can be discussed on there with input from a much wider audience (most read thread has over 30,000 views) and in a more meaningful way.
Parents need to know more about it, they need to talk to there kids.

Are you and expert????? Are you a child psychologist????? What sort of "good" do you think you will do and are you qualified to know what is good. Perhaps you should also have threads on "asians grooming young white girls for sex", "selling of drugs to primary school children", "wife beating", abuse in mental institutions, rape, radicalisation of minorities into extremists and terrorists etc......
I can understand you point of view and concern but these are difficult and complex subjects and I don't think rugby message boards are an appropriate forum.

If one person reading it, weather that be a parent, who notices there child is withdrawn/quite/suddenly struggling at school. who may just start to realise something is not quite right. Or God forbid a child caught up in something terrible. Starts to think they can ask for help from a teacher, someone in the family who they can trust or a policeman/woman then it has to be worthwhile. Or don't you think so?

True enough, but that doesn't mean a O/T subject, cannot be discussed on here does it.

I have never tried to make out, i am a expert in any subject. Also if you have to be a expert to discuss things, then we might as well shut down every forum. You mentioned about posting this thread on the sin bin. If we have to be experts thats not going to happen is it. Thank God people are allowed to have a opinion.

All very good subjects to be discussed, in the right manner.

This isn't just a rugby board. Its a rugby board that can also be used for O/T threads.
