Are the club aiming at the wrong age group? : Wed Jun 08, 2011 3:55 pm
Over the years. The club in it various guises, has always had the stated aim, of trying to get kids down to watch.
I have heard people say, "they are the future of the club", "if we can get them down, then it will bring there parents down as well".

Has this strategy paid off. I don't think it has. I have not really seen a big increase in the crowds. Because i don't really see loads and loads of kids down at the club.

Would the club be better aiming at 15 to 20 age group?

I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!

Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.

At the time of Cougarmania it was the right thing - look at all the pubs that converted to "family friendly", had adventure rooms and sold food. It's where the money was. It should still be lucrative, but how do you get them down?

Seems like there is a lot of money now with the over 60's - living longer, disposable income maybe the offer of a free blue rinse or pre chewed sarnies might help :CURTAIN:

As for the 15 to 20's, I'd be all for a mosh pit. Wang 'em all in with the odd baseball bat and offer the ones standing at the end a free pass to the next game. We could charge spectators extra and even run a book.

On second thoughts, perhaps we should leave the demographics to the experts. :D

Sunny Silsden.

These would be the 'experts' packing Cougar Park out every Sunday, would they???
15 -20 is the age group I'd go for; local bands on at half time or after the game, generous(ish) discounts on tickets, for instance two consecutive home games for a single payment of fifteen quid or whatever, that kind of thing.

Perhaps the question is not how do you get them down? More how do you keep them coming down as the kids start to get older?

Might as well convert the crèche in to a day centre whilst we're at it

This was a dozen 3 litre bottles of White Lightning and a Linkin' Park album away from being the post of the year!! Think of the hits Micky1920 would get on YouTube.

There are experts, people who think they are experts, then those that post on forums

I'm certainly not an expert but I used to have to access such information.

I don't know how things stand now but would imagine that a large proportion of the 15-20 demographic in Keighley are Asian and they seem more interested in their own culture. Still, there should be a sizeable proportion of that age group that are interested, so no harm in trying.

We could do a half time special - Moshing meets WWF, where we wheel a cage to the centre spot and let the four supreme moshers do their thing.

We would, of course, have to cater for the over 18's. This pit would have a mud floor and participants would be strictly over 18 females wearing skimpy white tops and rah rah skirts. I'm sure Micky would produce some interesting footage

It needs to be slightly rugby related so what about a prop forward's challenge?

Get a mosh pit going in the car wash stand with a guest prop forward every week in the middle. And let the prop do what he does best.

Points are scored as follows.

First Aider treatment 1 point, unless they're an emo kid which means it was probably self inflicted anyway.

Requiring Ambulance 2 points.

Extracation via Spinal Board 3 points

Requiring Air Ambulance 5 points.

Loss of limb 5 points per limb.

Death 15 points but frowned upon because we're a family club.
