I only wish I had seen this post in advance of the match. Every match I have seen him officiate he ruins.
I vow never to go again to a Cougar away match he officiates in. We were soundly beaten but he ruined it nevertheless. We were watching him and not a game of rugby.

In professional sport referees should be of a level, that no matter who you get, you get a reasonably consistent level of discipline. Players shouldn't have to adapt the way they play just because of the style of one particular referee, especially someone like Laughton who seems to make baffling decisions almost at random. Remember the second half of Rochdale playoff game 3 seasons back?

Thank goodness it is at home as I stand by my word I would not pay to travel and watch a Ronnie laughton show

Please let him provide examples when he has refereed a Cougars game on a 'level field/fair' basis as I have yet to see one (either at home or away)!

The biggest flaw in this Ref's style is his tendency to blitz a side with trivial penalties that can take them from attacking the opponents line to defending their own in less than four tackles. He then seems to ignore the same infringements for the rest of the game.

You will never get refs doing everything the same way.
It cannot happen.
Humans will see things differently. Fans see things differently and thats when they are at the same game.

The thing is players will have to adapt to the ref. Any team not doing that will suffer.
